Our Hero, Miro did it again with Faroes!

The three-times world and European champions were heading for an embarrassing draw against the mostly-amateur north Atlantic side when substitute striker Miroslav Klose headed them into the lead with one minute remaining.Striker Fredi Bobic doubled the visitors' advantage from close range two minutes into added time.Germany now lead the group on 11 points from five games.

Scotland, who held Germany to a 1-1 draw in Glasgow on Saturday, dropped to third place.The hosts failed to create a real scoring chance but resisted bravely and had been saved by the post three times when Klose headed Germany into the lead from a curling cross by Oliver Neuville.Bobic then completed a precious victory from a corner to save Germany from the unpleasant prospect of losing their lead in the group to Iceland.: 'We were at their goal for the 90 minutes and had many chances, but the ball simply did not want to go in. The longer it went without us scoring I was becoming anxious. I have played in many games like that in the past. They [Faroes] were defending for 90 minutes yet they could have almost been rewarded. I think, the result is definitely fair.

It still is irritating me that Miro is just a substitute striker when he's always doing the heroic stuff.

11/20/02: Germany 1:3 Netherlands

Germany lost their game on Wednesday Nov. 20th to the Netherlands in Gelsenkirchen. The final score was 3-1 and Bobic was the only scorer for Germany. Miro, however, was very close in the eighth minute and the ball would have gone in if not for the good work of the Dutch keeper. This is Germany's last international friendly of 2002. Their first game next year will be a friendly with Spain on 2/12/02. Thier next EC qualifier will be 3/29/02 against Lithuania.

Our Hero did it again and this time it's for the National Team. We love you, Miro!

Germany went ahead after only two minutes against the Faeroes when the returning Michael Ballack scored on a penalty kick. But the home fans were stunned when defender Arne Friedrich headed in an own goal in injury time before the break.
A 59th-minute header by Miroslav Klose turned out to be the game-winner, but 19-year-old Hjalgrim Elttor, a part-time player who works at a gas station, had a chance for Faeroes glory in the 82nd minute but his shot hit the post.
The victory over the Faeroes gave Germany the maximum six points.
